Our Annual Tradition, to spend a week every July traveling about on a Harley Davidson, enjoying the freedom of the open road. This year we decided to take our adventure to the southern states of Virginia and North Carolina. We first spent a couple of days reuniting with family - Swimming at the local pool with our niece Anna and nephew Stephen and we went to the farm to see Anna's rescue horse Banner. Then we started our Harley Ride in Virginia Beach traveling first to see friends Bob and Margaret at their Williamsburg home. After a great lunch we rode to Lexington, VA. The next day we rode down the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, passing through Bedford, VA and further on down south to Chapel Hill, NC. We spent the night in Apex, NC before heading east the next day towards the Outer Banks taking ferries up through Ocracoke, Hatteras to our next resting stop in Manteo. In Manteo, we saw the production of The Lost Colony. On our fourth day, we rode north through Kitty Hawk, back across the VA/NC border to Norfolk, VA. In Norfolk, we met up with family at the Norfolk Hospital to see Andrew after his car accident. The following day, we rode out to Virginia Beach to reach our 1,000th mile.
After returning the Harley, we rode to McLean, VA to join family for the Memorial Service of our late Aunt Audrey. We had an awesome trip, awesome weather and we now have awesome memories of Freedom Ride 2011.
